- It began with a little recreational traveling - a trip or two a year just to escape everyday life. But my wanderlust grew to the point that I was consumed with fantasies of exploring far-flung destinations. All I could think about was my next trip. So I traveled more and more to satisfy what had become a full-blown adventure addiction. Sure, I've kicked the habit dozens of times. I'll stay at home a month or so. I'll even unpack my bags. But I'm always lured away again by images of tropical beaches, majestic canyons and ancient ruins. I am a journey junkie. Based between Honolulu and San Diego, I specialize in travel destinations, adventures and people of the Hawaiian Islands, Mexico, the South Pacific and Western US - although my globetrotting will cover new continents and islands in 2009. You may have seen my stories in The New York Times, Global Traveler USA, San Francisco Magazine, Los Angeles Magazine, TravelAge West, Smart Meetings, Family Fun, Hemispheres, Outside, Metro Canada and Journal-Topics Newspaper Group.
